The local land is calcereous which means that the lake has a natural pH of 7.5 and is rich in fauna and flora for the carp to eat. The lake was emptied of nuisance species in 2005 so there is very little competition for food and the carp are growing fast. The lake is stocked to the level recomended by the Institute of Fishery Management (max 250Kg/Ha)
